BOOK REVIEW: Be a creative mom

Mommies, feed ur baby can be very tough, your baby might reject the food..close his mouth....turn his head away.. he refuse to eat....however just be calm...don't worry if he rejected or doesn't eat everything u offer, let him explore the taste...NEVER force ur baby to eat, slowly introduce him food ....let him familiar with different taste. As for me I am quite lucky as for now ...Vish loves all the foods i prepare for him tasteless...sweet...sour..he just eat...hopefully he will continue this habit.

A love of food is one of the best gifts that you can give your child by introducing your baby to homecooked food from the start you can lay the foundations of healthy eating something that will stand him or her in good stead for life.Just wanna share with mommies who just started giving their little one with solid food
specially for those who make their own baby food (homemade).. special for u mommy Loretta, mommy Christina, mommy Kani, mommy Ashton, mommy Doreen, mommy Mitchelle and more who did ever ask me about this issue....

Although there hundred even thousand of baby food in a jar or canned selling at the supermarket.....convenient and easy.....
but as for me try to make ur own...blend and cook with love arise such great satisfaction..not only that it also more healthy, fresh and best for ur little one don't make ur work...career...fatigue as an excuse not prepare homemade food for him........rite mommies? ......I have a few books on baby/toddler food/recipe......these two is the most basic....I bought at MPH bookstore...my fav bookstore

REMEMBER BOOKS, MAGAZINES, WEBSITE, BLOG JUST PROVIDE U THE GUIDELINES ON HOW TO FEED UR BABY...OFFER U THE RECIPE ETC
...EVERY BABY IS UNIQUE AND HOW MUCH THEY IT OLSO VARIES
...DON'T COMPARE UR BABY WITH OTHER BABY...(eg...why her baby can eat that much why can't mine)
...FOLLOW AND TRUST UR MATERNAL INSTINCT
...COOK WITH UR OWN CREATIVITY...honestly i not really follow d books etc...I bought it for guidelines...i create my own recipe according to my own intuition....

TIPS FOR FEEDING
just be creative...
(Mommy Agnes tips...special from me to share)
  1. Do not start with commercial baby cereal which available at the supermarket..because he will get use with the sweet taste..and when u start to intro him homemade food which sometimes tasteless he will refuse to eat...
  2. Try to use organic/fresh food...price can be slightly expensive but worth it
  3. Do not force ur baby to eat or force him to finish d food..be calm and slowly
  4. Do not add salt/sugar/additives etc to ur baby food because they can't digest it yet...let the natural taste....
  5. Apply 4 days rule in order for u to identify whether ur baby has allergic to certain food and introduce one type of food before you combine d ingredients
  6. Since baby food not allowed to add salt/sugar/additives what u can do is combine sweet food with the tasteless example: sweet potato + green bean, Carrot + raisin, etc
  7. Never give peanut, white egg, honey, fish (seashell), under 1 year old...
this all for now..will update later...

VISH VISH & ELKEN SPIRULINA

I was consumed Elken Spirulina for almost 4 years......really great experience with it....during pregnancy I took 10 tablets per day together with Dr. Xeniji and drink 2 liter Elken RO water daily...no cramp...no tiredness..thanks God vish born in a good health..no jaundice...although not breastfeed he so far never get sick...THANK GOD....and now he is 6 months....he start taking solid food hence I decided to give him ELKEN spirulina 2 tablets per day...mix with his porridge...for your info spirulina is similar with breastmilk and can prevent AH1N1...although the price of Elken product is very expensive but really worth it...

next plan to give him Elken EPA DHA & brown rice.....

Nutritional Values of Elken Spirulina

Elken Spirulina is a type of spirulina called Arthropira Platensis, one of the larger dimensions variant that can be consumed by humans. Our spirulina has been consumed by more than 10 million people throughout the world, and is the first to mass-produce unpolluted and top-grade spirulina. This health food has
  • 1.4 times more nutritional values than cow's milk
  • 2 times more protein than soya bean, 6 times more than egg and 3.5 times more than beef
  • the richest source of iron and folic acid
    • 68 times higher than spinach
    • 29 times higher than raw beef
    • 5 times higher than soya bean

An alternative to milk

Essential Fatty Acids Linolenic Acid Gamma Linolenic Acid (GLA)
Elken Spirulina 44.6% 21.7% 22.9%
Mother's Milk 16.7% 15.1% 1.6%
Cow's Milk 1.3% 1.3% Little

Elken Spirulina have rich concentration of GLA, and can be used to replenish inadequate nutrients in a mother's milk. The GLA is in fact 3 times higher than that of Evening Primrose Oil.

Functions of GLA includes:

VISH VISH D ORGANIC BABY

I am quite particular choosing raw materials and sources to make Vish Vish dish/meal....the main criteria are ORGANIC AND NATURAL....just bought organic raisin, carrot, brocolli and oat for him. Although price quite expensive but worth it for the sake of our baby health

Lets check out what is organic food?

Organic food is food without chemical pollution, without Genetically Modified Organism (GMO) , without chemical, fertilizer, pesticide etc or anything that harmful to human body and natural environment.

VISH VISH & BROWN RICE & PURPLE SWEET POTATO

Another new taste for Vish Vish today: brown rice + Enfalac A+ for lunch and purple sweet potato for dinner. As usuall he loves it very much...even ask for more...I have discussed about the goodness of sweet potato now lets see fact about brown rice

Why is brown rice better for baby than white?

A grain of rice is composed of several different layers. Only the outside layer, the 'hull', is removed during the production of brown rice and very little goodness is lost by the grain in the process.

But during the production of white rice, the grains are milled to remove more layers - the bran and almost all of the germ. This process strips the grains of the majority of their nutrients.

In the final part of the process, another layer called 'aleurone' is removed and the grains are polished. But aleurone is a good source of essential fats, which play such an important role in your baby's diet.

So what are you left with?

White rice - a refined starch that offers your little one very little in the way of nutrition.

Why is brown rice such a healthy choice for baby?

Just look at what it contains!

  • vitamins B1, B3 and B6
  • manganese (essential for healthy bones, manganese also reduces the symptoms of asthma and is a powerful, energy-providing antioxidant)
  • iron
  • phosphorus
  • selenium
  • Essential Fatty Acids

VISH VISH & SWEET POTATO

Yummy sedapnyer mummy....vish loves it...want some more....

End of this January, Vish Vish will be six months old..moment that I have waited for finally have come....times for him to consume solid food!!! Actually he has shown interest on food since 4 months old, but I decided to wait until 6 months as recommended by his paed and after reading a few article, forum etc to ensure his digestion system is ready and mature enough to digest food...

WHO recommended no solid food to introduce for the first 6 months...one of the concrete reason behind this to avoid food allergy....however it depend on baby herself....make sure he ready for solid food..there no need to rush just because others give their 3 months baby ..one of my fren in FB giving his son rice cereal mix with milk when he was 2 weeks just because her baby ask for milk every single hour...
I'll introduce him solid food gradually, one by one and separate 3 to 4 day before introduce new food to ensure he do not develop food allergy and digestion problem....I was started giving him solid food when he was 5 months 3 weeks which is baby rusk as an introduction.....and yesterday my sister was cooked sweet potato for him..I mashed and mixed it with his Enfalac A+....he loves it very much and finished all...next will be banana....

Although many people choose rice grain as babies non staple food as first food but I'll go for veggies and fruits first only then rice cereal...belows food lists I have plan for Vish (6-9 months) after taking into consideration his age, nutrition and functions. I try to avoid processed and commercial food...giving him only homemade, organic and natural food...All the foods below are unlikely to cause allergic..ha play safe...I only introduce meat and fish when he 9 months and above

RECOMMENDED FOOD FOR 6-9 MONTHS BABY (design for darling Vish)

Ultimate meal: Enfalac A+

Veggies: Sweet potato, white potato, pumkin, baby carrot, brocolli, cauliflower

Fruits: Banana, Apple, Avocado, Raisin, Pear,
Grain: Brown Rice (I opt for brown instead of white because of it nutrition...talk about this when Vish start to consume it), oatmeal and barley
Other: Baby Rusk (Made from rice), Elken Spirulina

FOUND FAV BLOG ON BABY FOOD/WEANING

Vish vish is will be 6 months end of this month...oh dear its time to introduce first solid food to him...actually eversince he was 4 months he have shown interest in food....and now getting eager to grab food from us while we are eating...siap crying if we did not feed him....so far i only introduce baby rusk to him......this weekend I will start cooking for his meal...get ready dear....actually easy if we just get instant baby cereal in supermarket out there but I refused no matter how hard i will try my best to prepare healthy homecook for him....air tangan ibu lebih berkat kata orang...furthermore more hygenic....when come to cleanliness and health i will not compromise espc anything that enter my baby mouth......no play play...baby not for trial..reading in Brenda blog aboug grandma feed his grandchild halfcook boiled eggs......feed durian to 5 months baby...oh such stupid person....

It has been quite long I conduct research on baby food, recipe, food safety etc......I browse through d net (my fav site of course babycentre and wholesomefood, reading books....and today I found one complete blog on baby food and recipe including useful tips created by Brenda from Singapore title littlegastronomy...ha...very unique name.......I read through her blog without feeling bored almost for the whole day today.....overexciting...he.he......thanks so much Brenda.....although I did compile all d info but not as complete as you.......such wonderful mom....

VISH VISH & BABY RUSK

I quite particular in choosing anything for vish vish to eat/drink...since i did not breastfeed him I try my best to give the best food for him......I am very concern about nutrition, ingredients, side effect....etc....what i emphasize the most of course nutrition and contents.....make sure no colouring and additive......but we can't avoid preservative for the manufacture to preserve the food.....among all rusk in retail outlets I choose this........first it made from rice...easy to digest and quite tasteless (not 100% tasteless)......compare with Milna which is quite sweet i prefer this....

I have decided the first menu for vish when he coming 6 month.....homemade brown rice porridge.....mix with carrot, brocolli and anchovies...i introduce meat later to him as advice by paed to ensure his digestion system is mature and ready enough......just wait ya baby.....actually I have bought Nestle Brown Rice cereal for vish but paed said do not give...better homemade porridge...so i paksa beri ngan my fren......

yummy so nice.....
gelojoh nyer dia....

Vish Vish will be 6 six months end of this months......in order to introduce him to solid food I firstly giving biscuit/rusk for him to bite.......better give him biscuit rather than see him bite almost anything....books...blanket...towel...etc... (16 Jan 10).....he loves this biscuit very much...sure ask for more......but he quite gelojoh...nak swallow semua one go...sampai nak tersedak...aduh aduh....everytime he see we eat something sibuk nak grab.....munching without thing inside his mouth...imitate people makan....

Dear Vish,

The thing that mummy will regret for the rest of my life is for not being able to breastfeed you....mummy always blame myself for not breasfeed.....honestly mummy really jealous at other mom who can exclusively breastfee d their baby.... ......no matter how good and expensive formula mummy give to you....but still can't substitute the goodness of breastmilk...hence mummy have promise to myself to give the best for you....for the beginning mummy use only Elken RO water to make ur milk (100% pure water... contaminated free), mummy give you the best formula which is Enfalac A+ (before decided to give u this brand mummy conduct a lot of research, make comparison among all the formula brands, consult paed and found this is the best furthermore it suitable for u) mummy also start to give you Appeton Infant Drop when you 4 mths old to ensure you grow healthly...since you are never breastfeed mummy will find other alternative to enhance your immune system...and thank GOD until now you never fall sick....
